About Rapsey Press
Rapsey Press is a newly established small independent publishing imprint created to make high-quality books. Projects will be chosen for their depth and lasting value rather than for speed or trend. Each book will be developed slowly, with care given to accuracy, clarity, and visual consistency, and is intended to remain useful well beyond its initial publication.
The publishing program will center on natural history, with a particular emphasis on birds and visual documentation. These books will be made for readers who value careful observation—whether they are enthusiasts, educators, researchers, or thoughtful general readers. The first title, Arizona Birds: A Complete Photographic Record of the State’s Avifauna, is currently in development and will be published in Summer 2026.
Rapsey Press will operate on a small scale by choice. Editorial development, image editing, design, and print supervision will be handled directly and closely in-house. Materials and printing methods will be selected for quality, reliability, color fidelity, and durability.
Rapsey Press was founded by Francis Morgan, a photographer, designer, and publisher. He previously founded Learning A-Z, an educational publishing company later acquired by Cambium Learning Group, and earlier held senior management positions with BBC Publications in London and Addison-Wesley Publishing. The press reflects his return to small-scale, subject-driven publishing shaped by that experience.
Based in Arizona, Rapsey Press will publish a limited number of titles. Each book will be conceived as both a lasting reference and a well-made physical object—intended to be used, kept, and treasured.
